Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the mediating effect of mother's psychological well-being in the relationship between a mother's coaching capability and the empathy of early childhood children.
To this end, a survey of 217 mothers with infantile children in G City, Gyeongsangbuk-do, was conducted. The collected data were used through SPSS and AMOS 26.0 programs to perform reliability analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistical analysis, correlation analysis, factor analysis, and structural equation model analysis. First, the analysis showed significant static correlations between all the measurement variables. Second, a partial effect of psychological well-being was seen in the relationship between the mother's coaching capability and the child's empathy ability. This means that a mother's coaching capability can have a direct impact on her child's empathy ability and indirectly affect their psychological well-being. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that in order to support the development of child's empathy ability, a multifaceted approach is needed, taking into account not only the direct effects of the mother's coaching capability, but also the indirect effects of the mediator of psychological well-being.
