Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of planned happenstance skills on career adaptability and career preparation behavior of college students and to discuss the necessity of career coaching education to improve planned happenstance skills. The results of this study are as follows. First, the planned happenstance skills have a positive effect on career adaptability. The curiosity, persistence and optimism were found to have a statistically significant effect on career adaptability. Second, the planned happenstance skills were found to have a statistically significant effect on career preparation behavior. Curiosity, optimism, and risk-taking factors were found to have a statistically significant effect on career preparation behavior. It is required to expand career coaching education in addition to the existing career coaching programs in order to improve the planned happenstance skills of college students. In addition, I would like to suggest the understanding and practice of college authorities and professors.
