Abstract

The purposes of this study were to analyze economic impacts of a marine leisure exhibition and event on the host area using regional input/output model. In order to accomplish such purposes, this study used 466 questionnaires from the G Marine Festival. The collected data were analyzed by using Input/Output Model. Accordingly, following findings were derived from current study. First, out of town visitors to the host city were a total of 86,868 out of 237,679 visitors, the average expenditure of a visitor per day was 30,543 Korean Won. Thus, the amount of 2.65 billion Won was estimated to be the direct impact generated by the event. Second, with 8.53 billion Won invested by provincial government and host cities, a total of input was 11.15 billion Won for the event. Third, the output multiplier effect was estimated 17.22 billion Won with Benefit Cost Ratio(BCR) of 2.02. Fourth, the value-added multiplier effect was estimated 8.33 billion Won with BCR of 0.98. Fifth, the income multiplier effect was estimated 6.96 billion Won with BCR of 0.82 Sixth, the indirect tax multiplier effect was estimated 0.44 billion Won with BCR of 0.05. Finally, the employment multiplier was estimated 151 full time equivalent persons.
