Abstract
The work aims to identify similarities and differences in the functioning of Internet memes, which include “fairy-tale” precedent phenomena (names, titles, visual images). The paper carries out a comparative analysis of Internet memes in Russian, German and English. When considering an Internet meme, the researcher studies its linguistic features and the main types of Internet memes as a creolised text, as well as determines how often a particular character from fairy tales appears in memes. Scientific novelty of the research lies in analysing national and linguistic features of an Internet meme, using fairy-tale images and involving the material in three languages (Russian, German and English). As a result, it has been proved that creolised memes, which have their own linguistic features, predominate among Internet memes.
