Abstract

Background In recent years there has been a continuous deterioration of the qualitative status of oil industry resources due to the significant development of reserves of high production fields in a continuous operation using conventional waterflood systems. In the structure of hard-to-recover oil reserves a large portion of the remaining oil is in depleted reservoirs, as well as in low permeability reservoirs, heavy oil deposits, etc. In reference with the above, the question of residual oil distribution remains relevant accounting the current ideas about the forms of existence of residual oil in the reservoir and the principles of its additional recovery. Aims and Objectives Theoretical study of the issue of remaining oil reserves distribution and extraction methods of residual oil from the flooded reservoirs. Methods This article is composed as a result of generalization and analysis of the scientific-technical literature. Conclusion The knowledge of the structure of remaining reserves will increase the efficiency of technologies additional recovery of residual oil.
