Abstract
This text mainly analyzes the musical structure and performance of pianist trio - Elegant, Sensitive, and Creative, composed by Eunhye Kim (born in 1956, chairperson of the Korean Composers Association), one of the most representative female composers in South Korea. The work was commissioned by the Seoul International Music Festival Organizing Committee in 2009 and has been performed multiple times in South Korea, Europe, and North America. These three movements respectively represent the snake, ram, and monkey among the twelve Chinese zodiac animals. The piece employs the classical performance form of the piano trio, fully utilizing the characteristics of the piano, violin, and cello. The work emphasizes the symbolic significance of the number “3”, representing “harmony” and symbolizing the harmony among South Korea, China, and Japan. Additionally, “3” represents heaven, earth, and humanity, symbolizing spatial harmony. The number “3” also exists as an intermediate number between the male and female principles.
