Abstract

In the article, the object of research is composites based on quartz sand, modified with polystyrene and mechanochemical processing in a planetary centrifugal mill with dynamic action. The aim of the work is to determine the regularities of the formation of the structure and morphology of particles of powder materials in the process of mechanochemical treatment, strength characteristics and the type of modifying additive that provides activation and formation of a highly dispersed structure and multilayer morphology of particles of mineral raw materials - quartz and polystyrene. Research methods: optical microscope, electron microscopic analysis, X-ray phase and X-ray structural analysis, determination of the strength and density of samples. The optimal conditions for the mechanochemical treatment of quartz and polystyrene in obtaining samples with high strength properties have been established. The increase in strength correlates with the formation of cristobalite, tridymite, aluminum nitride and silicon carbide, and various complex compounds in the synthesis products. It was found that the samples obtained on the basis of a pre-activated and modified mixture have a more uniform structure. The role of surface structures is extremely important when creating powder modified materials with a given set of properties. The development of scientifically substantiated methods for obtaining ultradispersed particles of a complex layer structure for powder materials is necessary to control the process of subsequent synthesis in the combustion mode when creating composite systems for a specific purpose.
