Abstract
Тhe article provides interpretations of the concepts of «extremism» and «terrorism». Revealed the reasons for the emergence of youth extremism in Russia and as an extreme form of its manifestation — terrorist sentiments and beliefs in the youth environment. The author comes to the conclusion that one of the main and most important directions of countering extremism and terrorism in the Russian Federation today is their prevention. The article presents the positions of various authors regarding the prevention of extremism and terrorism among the youth of Russia. As a result, it was concluded that success in the prevention of extremism and terrorism largely depends on: first, the degree of mutual trust and coordinated actions of the state and law enforcement agencies, public organizations and the media; secondly, from their willingness to prevent young people from falling into antisocial groups. Moreover, it is necessary to exclude or minimize the very possibility of the emergence and development of this phenomenon in the youth environment.
