Abstract

The paper presents the results of the study of spatial distribution of hydro-optical characteristics, in particular, light attenuation e by water at a wavelength of 550 nm, light absorption by yellow substance κys at a wavelength of 450 nm, relative transparency Z, measured using the white Secchi disk, obtained in the period of 25-30 July, 2018 during summer field investigations at the Novosibirsk reservoir. In the course of studies e varied within 5.8-13.9 m–1, κys – 7.3-15.2 m–1 and Z – 0.45-1.10 m. The concentration of yellow substance was in the range from 34.4 to 71.7 g/m3, the chlorophyll concentration – from 7.0 to 78.2 mg/m3. The relative spectral contribution of the main optically active water components (pure water, yellow substance, suspension and chlorophyll) to the light attenuation in the water area was measured as well. It was found that yellow substance was the main contributor to e at all 13 sampling stations of the reservoir.
