Abstract
In order to perform a high-speed and precise paper feed in printers and X-Y plotters, it is in-dispensable to know the exact deformation-force characteristics of the paper around the feed hole, but the characteristics has not become clear yet. This paper presents the simple model that the paper around the hole is composed of the circular stripes. The calculation based on the model is done and the calculated results are compared with the measured results. The main results are as follows : (1) The calculated characteristics and the measured charcteristics agree with each other. (2) The force between the paper and the pin is mainly based on the contractile force of the stretched paper fibers. (3) The force increases exponentially to the deformation when all fibers around the hole stretches without slip, and the force increases linearly to the deformation when the slips among the fibers occur.
