Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyzed holistic the professional knowledge of sport instructors. To achieve this purpose, qualitative case study was conducted for 114(12: in-depth interview, 102: open questionnaire) Sport Instructors who was working at sport center located in seoul. Data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, document materials and open questionnaire were analyzed using Spradley`s (1980) cultural analysis method. The professional knowledge of sport instructors was divided into pedagogical content knowledge, job knowledge and self knowledge. The pedagogical content knowledge were content knowledge and teaching knowledge. The job knowledge were administrative knowledge and management knowledge. The self knowledge were one`s principles and behavior knowledge. The one`s principles were occupation awareness and attitude knowledge. The behavior knowledge were human relations and self management knowledge. Professional knowledge are necessary for sport instructors to conduct various role and making practical knowledge through experience. Three professional knowledge are not separated knowledge but related knowledge.
