Abstract

This article is dedicated to study of archetype of faith in the text by Vladimir Korotkevich “Christ has landed in Grodno” (1996). Archetype of faith is an ontological component of the novel’s artistic world, by which the author forms a system of spiritual and material values of heroes in his work. The text represents both the traditional (Christian) idea of true faith that has existed for centuries, and the new one that is implemented in the neo-myth of Korotkevich in the XX century. The power in Grodno propagates the idea about faith, which is associated with enslavement of Byelorussians, violence and dictatorship. Rebels, who are striving for freedom in Belarus, asserting the rights of a Human in the society of Grodno that is not free, see the faith as love, good, confidence and devotion.KEY WORDS: faith, Christianity, humility, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, liberty, love.
