Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationships among physical self-concept, exercise emotion and exercise adherence of college students taking the ski class as a part of their physical activity courses. Among the college student taking the ski class as a physical activity course, 400 students were recruited from 5 universities in the Kyungki and Southern Choongchung regions (convenience sampling). Of 400 questionnaires collected from the subjects, 15 unfaithful respondents were discarded, and answers from 385 samples were used for the final analyses. The results showed, first, sport competence, endurance, appearance, self-esteem, muscular strength, body fat, health factors of the physical self concept variable showed significant influence on interest, vitality, pride, achievement, and purification factors of the exercise emotion variable. Secondly, sport competence, muscular strength, physical activity, appearance, endurance, and health factors of the physical self concept variable significantly influenced the tendency and possibility factors of the exercise adherence variable. Finally, possibility and reinforcement factors of the exercise adherence variable were influenced by pride and vitality of the exercise emotion variable. Also, tendency factor showed influences from pride and achievement. These results highlights the significance of ski class as a physical activity course at college level. Participating students reported the positive effects on exercise adherence influenced by their perception of physical self-concept and exercise emotion.
