Abstract

The article deals with the genre originality of the modern Chuvash prose, since at the beginning of the XXI century the interest in new types of genres has increased in the national literature. It is revealed that the formation of new types of genres was influenced by prose writers’ understanding of the historical processes that took place in Russia in the XX century. Studying the diversity of genres in the context of the literature of the Turkic peoples from the Volga region, the author believes that at the beginning of the XXI century in the Chuvash prose genres, there is a tendency to documentation, historicity, and the desire for epicism. In addition, a new trend is emerging - the mythological world perception of an individual writer contributes to the appearance of the ‘novel - ethnic fantasy’ genre.
