Abstract

The article contains the results of an empirical study of the leadership qualities of primary school students in Russian and Vietnamese schools. The relevance of the study is confirmed by the special interest of psychologists in the process of development of the child's personality, his socialization and the formation of a unique lifestyle, in which the individual characteristics of children and the sociocultural conditions in which they develop play an important role. The purpose of the study is to study the characteristics of leadership qualities of children of primary school age from Russia and Vietnam (in different sociocultural and pedagogical conditions), which, in the author's opinion, are of interest to educational psychologists when choosing methods of work on the development and formation of leadership qualities in schoolchildren in different sociocultural educational environments. In fulfilling these tasks, a special role is given to the modern education system, which requires new psychological and pedagogical methods and technologies for the formation of students' leadership qualities. Leadership training is not a spontaneous process, it can and should be organized, and this should be done in the process of education and training. The study is cross-cultural in nature and was conducted on two samples of subjects in Russia and Vietnam. To compare and analyze the results, identical diagnostic material was used: the Sociometry method for measuring the level of cohesion, determining sociometric statuses and identifying informal leaders; the "Ladder" method (V.G. Shchur) for determining the child's self-esteem and the child's ideas about how others evaluate him; test "I am a Leader" (A.N. Lutoshkin, adapted by the author) to determine the development of leadership qualities in a child (the ability to manage oneself, organizational skills, etc.); questionnaire to determine the level of development of volitional qualities of students (T.I. Shulga). All instructions and method content have been translated into Vietnamese. The Mann-Whitney U-test was used to evaluate the differences between the two samples. Analysis of the results of the study allows us to conclude that the level of development of leadership qualities of younger students is determined by the age norms of mental development and does not have significant differences in Russia and Vietnam.
