Abstract

Authigenic K-feldspar occurs sporadically in both the hanging and foot wall rock of the No. 11 ore deposit in the Shakanai mine. The K-feldspar in the hanging wall rock crystallizes as tiny rhombohedron-like crystals commonly referred to as the adularia habit, and belongs to the high sanidine - high albite series in respect of the structural state proposed by Wright (1968). By contrast, the K-feldspar in the foot wall rock has the morphology of common orthoclase and its structural state comes under the Wright's orthoclase series. The mode of occurrence and mineralogical character of these K-feldspar are described in some detail in this report.
