Abstract

Piano cycles created by Ukrainian composers in the second half of the twentieth century are filled with a search for a new musical expression. These are the findings of new non-traditional musical forms, new chord, sound combinations and rhythmic shapes, an extraordinary melodic line that would create a mysterious musical image. Musical works intended for childhood are most often formed in the form of musical miniatures. In today's music practice, the genre of miniatures is characterized by laconicism and, at the same time, elements of a variety of musical stylistics. M. Stepanenko's Piano Suite was founded in 1969, has six miniatures that reproduce the images of all animals of their choice: hippopotamus, dolphins, turtles, squirrels, foxes, monkeys. In the proposed work, the author gives information about the development of the piano suite, its content saturation, which gradually changed over the years. Suite "About the Beasts" belongs to the piano cycles of the newborn. Stepanenko's piano cycle is based on the principle of contrast, which manifests itself both in the musical texture of the miniatures, and in the composer's creation of two versatile sections (1-3 plays and 4-6 plays). In its general characteristic, the musical images of the suite are all diverse, do not have a single cross-cutting line of development, which allows the composer to apply elements of different musical styles. Dynamic line is closely related to the general logic of the plot deployment cycle. You can draw the attention of the reader to the dynamic development of the fifth miniature "Fox". Through the prism of unstable harmonic sounding of the musical language on the piano, the composer forms the image of the cunning Fox, who looks very carefully at the pond, hears, and sneaks to one goal – to grab ... The suite ends with the main tonic sound, which serves as a vivid example of the formation of an interesting musical performance with diverse musical images. Key words: piano cycles, miniatures, musical expression, play, development.
