Abstract
In a actual pneumatic apparatus, not only an air motor is used individually, but is also used widely with accesories like a speed controller. The starting performance of an individual air motor has been already investigated, but the starting performance of the air motor with accessories is not yet investigated. In this report, accessories are substituted for a restrictor and the performance of the air motor with the restrictor in the starting phase has been analyzed by the numerical method. The analytical results have been confirmed by experiments with a radial piston air motor. Following are some of the results of studies: (1) Close agreement between experimental and theoretical results of rotational speed, inlet port pressure and outlet port pressure was obtained. (2) In the case of a small volume between the air motor and the restrictor, the effect of the effective area on the time lag and the rise time became clear. (3) The influence of the volume between the air motor and the restrictor on the time lag and the rise time was elucidated.
