Abstract

The professional training of a philologist student involves mastering special disciplines, among which History of the Ukranian literary language is significant. In the process of studying this discipline the role of a lecturer, who has to guide a student to percept the historical context, is very important. That is why my aim in this article is to share some experience in teaching History of the Ukranian literary language, the problems and possible solutions to them. The course of History of the Ukranian literary language as a special discipline in the high school, together with Historical grammar, provides the necessary base of knowledge, competences in the linguistic branch of the history of the Ukranian language. It is one of the most important stages of not only the professional formation, but also the outlook of a future philologist. In current social political conditions this course acquires special significance, since it responds to some current complicated ideological challenges, and also becomes a foundation to form national references and values. Providing the course with learning literature is a problem. It may be mentioned that there is a great variety of practical manuals, whereas in the spectrum of text books the choice is limited. Therefore, the significance of lectures is rising. Their major goals are 1) to help a student understand the processes of the literary language formation at different historical periods; and for the optimization of his further individual work 2) to focus on the main vectors of perceiving the subject. The article deals with the principles of selection of literature, the structure of lectures and the issues from the history of the Ukranian language (introduction – XV century).
