Abstract

Background The main aim of the stop valves is the limitation of the oil discharge from the inner hull of the oil pipeline to the environment through the orifice. However, sometimes even optimum stop valves disposal do not safe from the environment pollution hazard, so there is a demand of independent investigation of such a problem. Aims and Objectives The aim is to obtain the analytical dependences of total cost of purchase, installation and exploitation of the stop valves after the trunk oil pipeline failure from the amount of stop valves disposed on the linear part of the trunk oil pipeline in the optimum way. Methods The task is solved accounting total cost of purchase, installation and exploitation of the stop valves, trunk oil pipeline and equipment failure hazard during the operating period. Results There were obtained the analytical dependences of total cost of purchase, installation and exploitation of the stop valves, the trunk oil pipeline and equipment failure costs, from the amount of stop valves disposed on the linear part of the trunk oil pipeline in the optimum way. This dependences help to provide the optimum disposal and appropriate amount of the stop valves on the linear part of the trunk oil pipeline, so that the total expenditures for purchase, installation and exploitation of the stop valves in the failure case will be minimal.
