Abstract

Results of long-term work on use of winter hexaploid triticale in winter bread wheat breeding are generalized. The problems of compatibility in reciprocal crosses, characteristics of plant type formation process in hybrid populations of the second and some successive generations are discussed. Using so called triticale “bridge” a possibility of transferring genetic information of rye into genome of bread wheat has been demonstrated. Effectiveness of use of bread wheat constant lines developed from crosses between hexaploid triticale and bread wheat as a new initial material in recombinational breeding for developing winter bread wheat varieties tolerant to unfavourable soil-climatic conditions has been demonstrated
