Abstract

Objectives The purpose of this study is to verify the moderating effect of leisure activity satisfaction in the relationship between job stress and quality of life of production workers. Methods For this purpose, an online survey was conducted targeting production workers at companies located in Daegu and Gyeongbuk, and 86 copies were used in the final statistical analysis. For the collected data, descriptive statistical analysis, reliability analysis, and correlation analysis were conducted for each variable using SPSS 22.0, and the moderating effect was verified using Process Macro for SPSS V3.5 Model 1. Results First, the job stress of production workers was found to have a significant negative effect on their quality of life. Second, production workers' satisfaction with leisure activities was found to have a significant positive effect on their quality of life. Third, leisure activity satisfaction was found to moderate the relationship between job stress and quality of life of production workers. In addition, although leisure activity satisfaction moderates the relationship between job stress and quality of life, it was found that leisure activity satisfaction played a greater role in the group with low job stress than in the group with high job stress. Conclusions First, it is significant that it has been empirically confirmed that leisure activity satisfaction is an important regulating factor in the relationship between job stress, quality of life, and leisure activity satisfaction of production workers and in the relationship between job stress and quality of life of office workers. Second, by uncovering the major variables that affect the quality of life of production workers, it is meaningful in that it can provide basic data for early screening of office workers with low quality of life and effective intervention. Third, the results of this study provided implications for the development of counseling and education programs related to job stress and leisure activity satisfaction that can increase the quality of life of production workers, which are increasingly being emphasized.
