Abstract

In 2022, there was a sharp change in the geopolitical situation in the world, which significantly affected both the global economy as a whole, and the energy and gas industry in particular. European countries have begun to refuse to supply Russian natural gas. The European Union has developed documents that develop measures for gradual and painless exclusion from the consumption of Russian gas. In this regard the extraction and export of the fundamental natural resource from Russia sharply decreased. In the medium term, the EU countries plan to completely switch to alternative sources. In this regard, the Russian gas industry faces huge risks and problems in reorienting the released volumes of natural gas. This article is devoted to the analysis of the situation on the gas market, prospects and forecasts of Russia’s role in it in connection with the changing geopolitical situation.
