Abstract

The paper aims to reveal semantic, linguo-cultural, associative components of the WAR concept in the Russian and Chinese linguistic worldviews. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the author for the first time provides a comparative analysis of the WAR concept in the Russian and Chinese linguistic worldviews taking into account semantic, cultural-semantic and associative-semantic components. Relying on an analysis of linguistic material (the Russian and Chinese stable expressions, proverbs and sayings) and on free associative experiment data (the Russian and Chinese respondents’ responses to the stimulus word WAR), the author identifies specificity of associative-semantic perception of the WAR concept by the Russian and Chinese native speakers.
