Abstract

The article substantiates the need to improve the strategic planning of the Russian oilfield service companies. Based on a detailed study of the problems and trends of Russian market of oilfield services revealed that the study of questions assessing the effectiveness of the scenarios of strategic development plan, aimed at achieving external growth companies via mergers and acquisitions of oilfield service companies, is particularly relevant at the moment. The existing approaches and methods of evaluation of the synergies, which is the resultant indicator of the effectiveness of the implementation of the strategic plan for the development of scenarios. The analysis of the shortcomings of these approaches: the difficulty of achieving the accuracy and scientific validity in the calculation of financial results of the combined company, high labor intensity calculations. On the basis of the identified deficiencies proposed economic model for evaluating the synergistic effect that is different from the existing ones, which allows to determine the optimal values of the key parameters of mergers and acquisitions, the maximum profit for the given guidance purposes and motives of existing transactions and reduce the complexity of calculations. The model was tested on the example of the Russian oilfield services company that provides a wide range of oilfield services. The calculation of the economic efficiency of the three scenarios of strategic development: 1) the acquisition of oilfield services company engaged in the production of geophysical equipment, the development of downhole tools and surface equipment, the type of vertical integration; 2) the acquisition of oilfield services company specializing in the provision of geological and geophysical services, the type of horizontal integration; 3) fusion with a geophysical company that is a subsidiary of vertically integrated oil companies and put up for sale as part of the withdrawal of non-core assets, the transaction in the third scenario is carried out by type of horizontal integration.
