Abstract
This report describes the test result of jet discharge of saturated water through a 4-inch discharge pipe from a pressure vessel with 4m3 of inner volume, under the initial condition that the pressure was 69kg/cmcm2·g, temperature was 283°C in the pressure vesse1. Behind the exit, a 10 ton load cell was installed to measure the thrust force due to the sudden jet discharge. In front of the pipe exit the target disk of 1, 000mm diameter was insta11ed. The distance between the pipe and the target was 500mm. Thirteen pressure transducers and 13 thermocouples were mounted on the target disk to measure the pressure and temperature increase due to jet impingement on the target. The following conclusions are obtained:(1) Pipe reaction thrust is calculated using homogeneous flow model at the early stage of the blowdown where the stagnation quality is low, The computed value gives good agreements with the experimental data.(2) The maximum pressure on the target due to jet impingement is 1kg/cmcm2·g when the distance between the pipe exit and the target is 500mm.(3) Mass flow rate was obtained by RELAP4/MOD5. The agreement between calculational and experimental results was given under the condition that Cd=0.63 for a 4-inch discharge pipe.
