Abstract
Cultural and historical recreational resources (along with natural ones) are the basis for the formation of tourist and recreational potential and an integral element of tourist and recreational systems. There are different approaches to the assessment of cultural and historical resources as an element of the tourist service management. In the absence of a unified methodology, these approaches are often based on the evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative indicators of sites. The practical part of the presented study deals with the assessment the tourist-recreational potential of the Krasnodar region in terms of cultural and historical sites located therein. The territory of the region as a whole demonstrates rich potential, while the distribution of cultural and historical resources is characterized by heterogeneity. The main focus of the study is on the region’s most developed tourist and recreational areas where cultural and historical sites of various types are concentrated: the Caucasian-Black Sea area, North-Caucasian, Mountain-Caucasian, and Azov ones. The paper analyzes how much these territories are saturated with cultural and historical sites of federal, regional and local significance, calculates the density of the sites, and studies the possibility of using those. Based on the research findings, cartographic schemes were compiled. The main result of the study is the application of the authors’score and factor methodology in assessing cultural and historical sites, which confirmed the leading positions of the Black Sea coastal resorts (Anapa, Novorossiysk, Gelendzhik, and Sochi) and the regional center Krasnodar in the ranking of tourist and recreational centers of the region.
