Abstract
A linguistic image, unlike its substratum, a mental image, is, in the author's understanding, a visual perception of the realities of a communicatively significant event verbalized in a person's consciousness, fixing the results of visual perception and the isolation of culturally marked elements in it. The linguocreativity of the ethno-cultural spirituality of a person contained in them is manifested not only in the creation of primary linguistic images, but also in their creative adaptation to new discursive situations of speech generation. The mechanism of this kind of adaptation is the linguocreative type of thinking. The linguistic image is considered in the status of a semiotic unit of ethno-cultural memory.
