Abstract

The article deals with the problem of formation of specialists’ in information, library and archival affairs readiness for professional activity. The analysis of scientific and pedagogical literature which highlights different aspects of the problem under research has been conducted. The essence of the term of the specialist in information, library and archival affairs has been presented. The structural components (knowledge and content component, activity and operational component, aim and motivational component) of readiness for professional activity have been determined. The research results have been presented. It is substantiated that formation of knowledge and content component has been realized through theoretical learning of subjects which form the core of specialty. The levels of knowledge and content component formation (general theoretical understanding, subject level, learning materials level) have been defined and characterized. It is proved that quality of learning at every level is crucial for knowledge and content component formation and influences the structuring of the “readiness for professional activity” of specialists in information, library and archival affairs. It is shown that learning material should be studied comprehensively and systematically, that will ensure the understanding of the theoretical content of the subject area: information and documentation systems of institutions; technologies for information, archival and library resources management. The authors present the conclusions and prospects for further research of the problem.
