Abstract

The relevance of the study of the problem of the development of interaction between local self-government bodies and institutions of higher education is due to the renewal of the system of views on the possibilities of bringing the authorities closer to citizens. The author proved the development of interaction between local self-government bodies and institutions of higher education is based on the use by local self-government bodies of the intellectual potential of universities on mutually beneficial terms. An important aspect of the development of cooperation between local self-government bodies and institutions of higher education is the willingness of local authorities to cooperate with universities of various profiles.It is proposed to use the positive experience of European countries and the USA regarding the integration of universities in managing the development of the region, region, and country. Indicators of the development of cooperation between local self-government bodies and universities include: use of the intellectual potential of universities in managing the socio-economic development of territories; signing agreements of local self-government bodies with institutions of higher education of cooperation on mutually beneficial terms; raising the professional level of officials in institutions of higher education (training and advanced training). The author identified directions for the development of interaction between local self-government bodies and institutions of higher education: implementation of various forms of interaction between local self-government bodies and institutions of higher education in order to use the intellectual potential of universities in the activities of local self-government bodies; determination of performance indicators of local self-government bodies in interaction with institutions of higher education; realization of joint projects of informational, analytical and research, charitable and social direction, etc; increasing the professional competence of officials of local self-government bodies (through training, advanced training within the relevant university).
