Abstract

The structural and semiotic approach is applied to analyse the artistic space of literary text. The study is conducted within the framework of Y. M. Lotman’s and M. M. Bakhtin’s school. The structural and semiotic approach enables deep philological analysis of modern literary text. The influence of the literary genre on the artistic space of literary text is identified. The conclusion is made that K. Ishiguro’s narrative techniques include code switching, symbolic images and parallel narration.
