Abstract

The article discusses the prospects of the development of the Russian language in the contemporary world. The position of Russian as the language of international communication is analyzed. The main problems facing the Russian language are shown. The importance of the Russian language in the world during the USSR and after its collapse is considered. The strengths and weaknesses of Russian as an international language are revealed. The forecasts of the development of the Russian language in the first half of the 21st century are evaluated.
