Abstract

The author discusses the main challenges of science and education in the Russian Federation, namely withdrawal from the Bologna system, sanctions, digitalization, and artificial intelligence in education. The Russian Federation has been developing the new national system of higher education to be set up before September 1, 2025. The author analyzes the vectors of using generative artificial intelligence (e.g. ChatGPT) in education. He compares the data of the national/centralized subscription to full-text resources in 2019 and 2024, and analyzes the vectors for Open Access development. Today, the university libraries are establishing themselves as information centers providing user access to the global information space; moreover, they are becoming the core of educational process building new type of information culture in students.
