Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the causal relationships among airline ground staff’s job competency, job commitment, and turnover intention and to identify four constructs of airline ground staff’s job competency: personal trait, expertise, interpersonal skills, handling the situation. Based on the literature review, this study set 3 hypotheses and empirically analyzed the effects of 4 job competency on job commitment and turnover intention. The study results are as follows: first, personal trait and interpersonal skills had positive effects on job commitment. Second, interpersonal skills and handling the situation negatively affected turnover intention. Third, job commitment negatively influenced turnover intention. This study has contributions, but there are also limitations as this is the first study on airline ground staff’s job competency, job commitment, and turnover intention.
