Abstract

The review examines the studies of modern Russian historians in which, as an independent scientific problem, the authors analyze the attitude of the ruling circles of the Russian Empire to the Polish question during the First World War (1914-1917). In particular, they are studied in detail the reasons and conditions for the appearance of the proclamation of Grand Duke Nicholas Nikolaevich to the Poles, discussion of this issue in the Council of Ministers, as well as various projects to resolve the Polish question.
