Abstract

Historical monuments have been initiated more frequently day by day in the society of Taiwan in recent years, every city and county government exert to survey the historical monuments and ancient buildings in the area under their control. Also, many architects and savants are giving themselves to the reposit territory. But in fact capitalizing the value of historical monuments that people advocate is more like reuse. Instead of capitalizing the monuments, reuse is only create another with a brand new skin. However, there have already been too many places for exhibition in Taiwan creating another one will make nothing but a positioning-unknown building. Beimen got an important position of manufacturing sea salt and there were the oldest salt pan and the works with the best techniques. With the gap of urban and rural growing, people in Beimen are ageing and because of importing salt aboard the industry were sinking cause people lose their job and get poor. Beimen salt-washing factory provided the need in Taiwan and exported, it was one of the most important salt-washing factories in Taiwan. There were five factories of salt washing in Taiwan years ago but only factory in Budai is still working and some empty saltworks in Beimen others were destroyed. In this thesis, the concept of eco-museum will not only be an unique historical monument to congeal local value but feed back to improve people’s life. Local value is meant to be “salt” the historical industry. It’ll be a easy choice to enhance this tradition with salt pan, workers, techniques, and saltworks. In addition, having more employment apitalizing exhibition hall opportunities, selling salt profit and salt artworks etc. income. Eventually, to be a sustainable development of culture. Capitalizing is not only preserve the shape of the old buildings but an approach to invoke memories and continue the atmosphere, makes it close to the history.
