Abstract

In VNIIA there is a work in progress of developing hardware-software complex (HSC) for multiparameter radiation log (MPRL). This is a new development level of spectrometric pulsed neutron gamma log. Distinction of HSC MPRL from existing logging equipment is that it allows to get several parameters simultaneously (elements content, macroscopic cross section of thermal neutron absorption, porosity, oil saturation) with the aid of one tool from one run. Vast methodical possibilities of the tool under development may be realized only with a special software. So this is a complex in which the software is a substantial part. To maximize use of HSC MPRL borehole conditions must be fully considered for which aim one must have data from thousands characterization measurements. One must take into account that HSC MPRL is more demanding as its precision is higher than attested accuracy of existing physical models. Existing in Russia (and not only) physical models, applicable for tools realizing traditional neutron logging or natural radiation logging, are wholly unusable for HSC MPRL. Alternative to them are mathematical models.
