Abstract
Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediating effects of cognitive flexibility on the relationship between positive psychological capital and school life adjustment of high school students. Methods For the research high school students in Busan were surveyed and 227 students’ data were finally analyzed using SPSS. Correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between each variable, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis was conducted to verify the mediating effects of the cognitive flexibility. Sobel Test was used to prove if the indirect effect of mediation variable was significant. Results First the result of this study showed that four components of positive psychological capital (self-efficacy, optimism, hope and resilience), cognitive flexibility, and school life adjustment of high school students had significant positive correlation. Cognitive flexibility on the relationship between four different resources of positive psychological capital and school life adjustment of high school students has been turned out to have partial mediating effects. Conclusions These results suggest the importance of psychological intervention to improve psychological capital (self-efficacy, optimism, hope and resilience) and cognitive flexibility that affect school life adjustment of high school students.
