Abstract

The article is devoted to the study of the terminological units of the USA higher education system in the linguistic-cultural aspect. In this paper it is proposed to extrapolate the theory of the cultural component of meaning that is revealed in the lexical-semantic analysis of terms to the terms of higher education in the United States. Analyzing the terminological units included in the system of the terminology of particular universities of the states and private universities, the author comes to the conclusion about the functioning of a single system of the terminology of higher education of the United States at the national level. The paper presents examples of territorial variance and uniqueness of terms with the cultural component of meaning included in the system of terminology of higher education in the United States.
