Abstract

The purpose of the study is to identify the main areas of the activity undertaken by Germany’s public diplomacy institutions in the United States. The article examines their initiatives and actions in the United States, analyses advantages and disadvantages of the chosen approaches of Germany’s public diplomacy. Relevance of the data is analysed by examining reports and other official publications of the main actors of Germany’s public diplomacy. The study is novel in that it is the first to identify interrelationships between governmental and non-governmental organisations of Germany’s public diplomacy and its main directions in the United States. At the same time, the article collects, systematises and summarises the latest factual material that makes it possible to provide an insight into and analyse the German organisations’ activity. As a result, it is proved that institutions of Germany’s public diplomacy are widely represented in the United States and actively cooperate with local organisations and the population, which has a positive effect on the state perception among the Americans.
