Abstract

The technique of artificial modes is one of the important ways. Wang Jianmin himself mentioned that the national melody, the expanding tonality and the colorful harmony are the important principles of his design of artificial modes. This paper selects Wang Jianmin’s Fantasia as the research object, takes Wang Jianmin’s Preliminary Exploration of Artificial Modes as the theoretical support, and uses the methods of literature research, harmony analysis, mode tonality analysis and so on, aiming at three aspects: personalized melody group, colorful harmony combination and non-traditional tonality combination, This paper analyzes the peculiar tone produced by the combination of the application techniques of artificial modes and traditional Guzheng music in this work, confirms the point of view mentioned by Wang Jianmin in his article Preliminary Exploration of Artificial Modes, and summarizes Wang Jianmin’s creative idea of integration of Chinese and western styles, and appreciation of both refined and popular tastes, so as to provide some reference for the creation of contemporary Guzheng music. At the same time, it can provide reference and help for performers to grasp the artistic style of the music more accurately.
