Abstract

Active matrix liquid crystal display(AM-LCD)has strict requirements on the liquid crystal properties,which greatly promoted the development of fluorinated liquid crystals.This paper reviews the progress in synthesis and application of fluorine containing liquid crystal materials in recent years, and focuses on the effects of different location of fluorine atom on the performance of the parent molecule in liquid crystal compound and the corresponding synthesis method.In combination with the liquid crystal phase transition temperature,dielectric anisotropy,birefringence and viscosity data,the key position of fluorine substituted in liquid crystal molecules were illustrated.It can significantly improve the performance of liquid crystal.The paper introduced the synthetic methods about terminal group fluorinated liquid crystals,benzene laterally fluorinated liquid crystals and the central bridge bond fluorinated liquid crystals.
