Abstract

The present paper discusses the contribution of dermo aesthetic methods to the treatment of edema. Initially the definition of edema is mentioned and the types of edema concerning the science of aesthetics are analyzed. The following describes the contribution of the lymphatic and circulatory system to the development of edema, as well as factors that promote their development, such as obesity, localized fat, cellulite and metabolism. Then the methods of treating edema with established methods are analyzed, such as lymphatic massage, electrotherapy, pressotherapy, cryotherapy, thermotherapy and then, innovative methods such as cryolipolysis, ultrasound, RF, Cavitation, Laser, HIFU and HIFEM are also referred. In each one of these techniques there are mentioned indications and contraindications. Furthermore, there are discussed some studies who reveal the correlation between obesity and edema. Finally, the personal conclusions are presented based on the content of this dissertation.
