Abstract

The present work is devoted to comparison of traditional funeral rites of four peoples (Yakuts, Khakas, Bashkirs and Chuvashes). The purpose of the comparison is to identify the similarities and differences in the traditional funeral rites between the four peoples, and thus to clarify the main features of the burial rites of the ancient Turks. The process of historical and cultural development of these peoples is very different from each other, but they still have many common elements of funeral rites. The results of the comparison can be the basis for further study of the main elements of funeral rites of ancient Turks.
