Abstract
The analysis of a professional portrait of a modern manager of an educational institution is conducted in the article. The objective reasons for the demands concerning the professional characteristics of a manager of an educational institution are proved. The reasons are caused mostly by the reformational processes on the market of educational services and transformations of a social-humanitarian sphere. Special attention is paid to the determination of the components of professional competence and their analysis is conducted. The essence of special, general, personal, communicative, and organizing competencies of a modern manager of education is clarified. The main ways of a realization and the content of professional and social functions of a manager of a modern school are described. On the basis of the analyses of personal characteristics of effective leaders, the criteria of an evaluation of the activity of a manager of education are determined. The list of the important features of a modern educational manager is established. There are physical and psychological education, confidence, initiatives, tactfulness, tolerance, orientation on success, ability to take responsibility, etc. The main directions of the professional activity of a manager are traced. The completion of them foresees a formation of a high-leveled professional competence: providing an interpersonal interaction (instructing, coordination), establishing of informational processes (representation, monitoring), taking decisions (distribution of duties, a subsequence of changes, mediation). The importance of the putting right of an opportune, trustworthy and full value information (conducted by a manager) of all participants of an educational process as the most important task in modern conditions of intensification of informational processes.Special attention is paid to the peculiarities of the realization of separate administrative principles under modern circumstances of a broadening of a public mission of a school, enrichment of the market of educational services, an increase of competition in this sphere, appearance of new aspects in interpersonal interaction in the educational environment. A systematic combination of several functions in the process of realization of professional actions causes their laying on or interpenetration and supplies a formation of new components of professional competence of a manager of an educational institution.
