Abstract

The article clarifies the essence of the concept of "linguistic personality", "national linguistic personality", "linguistic consciousness", "national linguistic consciousness", its structural elements, its role in the development and formation of Ukrainian-speaking democratic society. The source base is analyzed, key concepts are clarified, the main results of researches on linguistic personality, linguistic consciousness, in particular domestic, foreign psychologists, psycholinguists, linguists, and the relationship of national linguistic consciousness with civic competence are determined. The strategic importance of national linguistic consciousness as a major factor in the formation of civic knowledge, civic position, responsible attitude and observance of the linguistic responsibilities has been clarified. On the basis of interpretations and defining the structural elements of linguistic consciousness, the basic principles and psychological and pedagogical preconditions for the formation of the civic competence of the Lyceum students in the process of learning the Ukrainian language were singled out. The results are summarized and the prospects for further investigation of the problem are projected.
