The article discusses the features of the spatial and industrial development of the region in the context of digital processes. Purpose of the study: on the basis of generalization of a wide range of empirical data, to concretize the theoretical aspects of the spatial and sectoral development of the region in the context of digital processes. Achieving this goal required the use of several groups of data: theoretical studies in the field of spatial and regional development; regulatory documents in the field of strategic development of the regions of the Russian Federation; analytical materials of consulting and expert groups; the results of modern research by foreign authors on digitalization. Based on this goal, the methods of empirical generalization and logical-structural analysis were chosen. In the course of the work, the essence of the nodal categories of the spatial and sectoral development of the region was determined. In addition, the authors clarified the principles of the spatial and sectoral development of the region and diagnosed the key strategic directions, as well as significant resources of the spatial and sectoral development of the region. This made it possible to concretize the role and importance of digital processes in the spatial and sectoral development of the region. Consideration of the theoretical aspects of the spatial and sectoral development of regions allows us to determine a range of problems and, on their basis, to develop strategic directions for the effective development of the economy of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the short, medium and long term
