Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the working amount and the working intensity for the each crop to obtain the basic data for appropriate labor counterplans. In this study, we observed the working substances and postures, measured the work hours, and outside working environments such as temperature, humidity, coldness, and ultraviolet rays, and studied the effects of these factors on the humanbody. We also surveyed farmer's lifetime such as sleep and work hours. The results of this study were as follows:1) Working intensity: The working intensity for melon growers was high in January, February, March, April, May, November and December and low in September. For rice and cayennes growers, it was high in June because agricultural chemicals were sprayed and cayennes were harvested. The working intensity was high in August for livestock growers, September for pear growers, January, February, March, and April for grape growers, and March for dropwart growers.2) Sleeping hours: The melon growers slept less than any other crops and livestock raisers. They spent average 6.2-6.7 hours a day during the leisure season (January, February) and harvesting season (April, May, June). The working hour of the farmers growing dropwarts, radishes or chinese cabbages was always longer than that of farmers growing other crops all the year round. The working hour of livestock raisers was shorter in January, February, March, November and December, and that of pear and grope raisers, in harvesting season (August, September and October).3) Heart rate: When the rice growers sprayed the agricultural medicines or harvested rice, the heart rate was significantly higher than that of other crop growers. The heart rate of the farmers growing pears or gropes was significantly high. For the harvesting of dropwarts, it was significantly lower than other crops.4) The microclimate inside the clothing during the work: During the harvesting season, the microclimate was high in the farmers cultivating melons. That means that growing melons caused more burden to the human body due to the hot weather. The livestock raisers showed high temperature but low humidity inside the clothing in spite of low air temperature.
