Abstract

The study aims to empirically verify discussions about the vulnerable groups in Korean society after the spread of Covid-19. From January to April 2020, news media articles and Twitter posts about Covid-19 vulnerable groups have been collected, and text mining, semantic network analysis, and topic modeling techniques have been used for analysis. The analysis results are summarized as follows. First, in the media area, the vulnerable groups caused by Covid-19 were assumed to be small business, unemployed, and job seekers, while on Twitter, in addition to small business, difficulties were discussed focusing on age groups such as children, the elderly, and youth. Second, looking at the flow of discussion, measures to prevent the spread of the virus were discussed in the early stages of infectious disease, but later turned to a discussion of economic difficulties. Third, the news media and Twitter both deal with donations to vulnerable groups as an important issue.
