Abstract

ZnxCd1-xS solid-solution films were prepared by annealing the ZnS/CdS double films on a Pyrex glass at 600°C for 3hrs in argon gas atmosphere. These films had hexagonal, wurtzite-type structure. The compositions and lattice parameters of the films can be controlled by the thicknesses of starting CdS and ZnS films. The solid solution films doped with small amounts of Ag and Cl in their preparation processes showed various emission colors from blue to red corresponding to composition of ZnxCd1-xS films.
